Portrait Of A Lady With Flowers

Portrait Of A Lady With Flowers

A beautiful mid-19th-century portrait depicting a lady with her arm resting on a table with a bouquet. She’s wearing the latest fashion of the 1860s, which consisted of dresses with tight bodices and plenty of white lace. There’s also a prominent cameo proudly attached to her waist.

The portrait is housed within an ornate gilded frame with swept corners and elaborate foliate ornamentation.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also often restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
