Reginald Daniel Sherrin was the son of the accomplished landscape artist, Daniel Sherrin (1869-1940). He was born near Whitstable in Kent and served in both World Wars - working in a munitions factory in Rochester during WWII. In 1953, he moved to Starcross in Devon, which is a county that often inspired him.
