Peter Johan Schou was a Danish painter of landscapes, portraits and still life. He was born in Copenhagen but spent many years travelling Europe including trips to Romania, Turkey, Greece and Italy.

He was particularly fond of the natural world and his works often depict picturesque streams, beautiful light effects and attractive woodlands.

During the later part of his career, he taught at the Technical School in Copenhagen.
