Lindenberg, Hedwig (1866-1951)

Hedwig Lindenberg was a German artist predominantly known for her impressionistic maritime scenes, which usually include turbulent conditions and dense skies. She trained privately in Düsseldorf with the landscape painters, Morten Müller and Ludvig Munthe, and also the marine painter Carl Becker. The Düsseldorf City Museum holds examples of her work.

Born in Remscheid-Hasten, Germany. Her brothers were Julius and Richard Lindenberg, steel manufacturers.

1900-1905

Preliminary studies.

Trained in Düsseldorf with the landscape painters, Morten Müller and Ludvig Munthe, and also the maritime painter Carl Becker.

Worked in Düsseldorf throughout her life.

Became a member of several organisations including the Düsseldorf Artists Association, the Women's Art Association and the Düsseldorf Ring Artists Association.

Died in Düsseldorf, Germany.
