Feistkorn, Georg Wilhelm (1811-1843)

Georg Wilhelm Feistkorn was an accomplished German painter of portraits and genre scenes. He trained initially as a porcelain painter under Carl Schmidt and Philipp Petri in Göttingen, later turning his hand to oil painting. His fine and refined style is closely associated with the Düsseldorf School. The Göttingen Municipal Museum holds numerous paintings and sketches.

Born in Gottingen, Germany. The son of a blacksmith.

Trained as a porcelain painter under Carl Schmidt and Philipp Petri in Göttingen.

Switched to oil painting and undertook various portrait commissions.

1834

Works shown in Hanover.

Worked in Braunschweig, Hameln, Bremen, Düsseldorf and Einbeck.

1841

Emigrated to Saint Petersburg, Russia.

1843

Died in Saint Petersburg.
