Willy Fleur, Still Life With Rhododendrons & Bowl

Willy Fleur, Still Life With Rhododendrons & Bowl

This early 20th-century still life by Dutch artist, Willy Fleur (1888-1967), captures an array of rhododendrons in full bloom - bursting from a vase. The pinks seem to bustle with life and provide the perfect complement for the oriental bowl situated beneath them.

Fleur’s father worked in the Far East and accumulated a treasure trove of objects for inspiration.

The painting is signed/dated and housed within a highly ornate period frame.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
