Valborg Goldschmidt, Portrait Study Of An Academy Model

Valborg Goldschmidt, Portrait Study Of An Academy Model

A characterful portrait study of an academy model by Swedish artist, Valborg Goldschmidt (1877-1964). The subject is dressed in a blue shirt, waistcoat and red necktie.

Goldschmidt studied at the Royal Academy in Stockholm between 1906-1909 but this was painted in around 1930 sometime after she left. It’s possible that she returned to teach or perhaps attend further classes.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also often restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
