Vala Moro, Art Deco Etching Of A Dancer

Vala Moro, Art Deco Etching Of A Dancer

An early 20th-century coloured etching depicting a dancer in heels by Austrian-Hungarian artist, Vala Mora (b.1907).

This rare piece was once part of a set known as ‘Tanz’ (dance) that contained ten fairly racy etchings of females in various poses. There were only 350 of each set made.

The etching is hand-signed in the lower right and housed in a frame that’s probably the original.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
