Poul Friis Nybo, Interior Scene With Girl At Writing Desk

This charming early 20th-century interior scene by Danish artist Poul Friss Nybo (1869-1929) depicts a young lady at a writing desk. It’s quietly introspective and you can almost hear the pen scratching away.

Nybo was particularly skilled at interior scenes and we believe he often painted his own home. Candid moments captured with calm precision.

Signed in the lower left and framed.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
