This beautiful late 19th-century watercolour by British artist Lily Bristow (1864-1935) depicts a picturesque autumnal view.

The crunch of Autumn peppers a winding track as windswept trees lean, partially bereft. Golden tones and tinted foliage enlivened with a brilliant sky. The light, bright enough to squint, radiating into a distant haze.

Bristow was a remarkable woman. Determined, fearless and pioneering. Not only did she forge a noteworthy artistic career, exhibiting at the Royal Academy, but also became a record-breaking mountaineer.
