A charming early 20th-century oil on canvas depicting a view of Piazza San Marco in Venice. It’s probably after a work by Apollonio Domenichini (1715-c.1770) who created a fine set of ‘vedute’ (topographical views) of this popular destination.
It’s a painting that gives you a little more every time you return to it.
A label on the reverse bears the artist’s name DL Littmann and the date of 1912.
