Still Life With Roses

This early 20th-century French oil painting depicts four beautiful pink roses set within a bowl. It deftly captures the energy of these vibrant blooms.

Rendered with glorious daubs and splashes of ebullient highlights, the flowers sing with the radiance of Summer. They’re impressionistic in spirit and easy on the eye. Still lifes in this style seem so effortless and joyful - as if freshly sprung from a vivid corner of a picturesque chateau garden.

Signed illegibly in the lower right and held within an ornate scroll and foliate frame.

Overall size: 19” x 15” / 48cm x 38cm

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
