19th-Century English School, Windsor Castle From Stanwell Moor

19th-Century English School, Windsor Castle From Stanwell Moor

A charming late 19th-century landscape painting depicting a view from Stanwell Moor in Surrey across to Windsor Castle.

In the foreground, an old rickety bridge spans a waterway and leads on to a track that winds its way towards a cottage. While ahead of us, a family are situated before a stone bridge with one son pointing towards another.

On the horizon, Windsor Castle majestically appears through the haze of the evening’s sun and towers over this attractive rural idyll.

The painting is housed within a maple frame.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also often restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
