Portrait Of A Boy With A Dachshund

Portrait Of A Boy With A Dachshund

A 19th-century provincial depiction of a young boy and his favourite dachshund. He’s clutching the dear animal quite firmly so perhaps it was a little less keen to sit for its portrait.

The painting is housed within simple gilded frame that’s probably the original.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also often restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
