This decorative pair of late 19th-century French drawings depict a daybed and commode in the Rococo taste.

Drawings of this nature were vital for furniture makers and those working within the interior design industry. Often, they were produced as lithographs and bound within large folios. These were then shown to prospective customers when discussing a scheme for their home. Here’s an Italian example owned by S.A. Giovanni Bandini of Rome:

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also often restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
