Sten Lindahl, Portrait Of A Woman Reading

Sten Lindahl, Portrait Of A Woman Reading

A vibrant mid-century portrait of a seated woman reading by Swedish artist, Sten Lindahl (1923-2012). It's been painted with plenty of expression and areas of impasto.

She sits with her legs crossed and looks down towards her book - perhaps in her favourite chair by the window.

Sten Lindahl studied at Arvid Källström Art School and later in Paris. He undertook many study trips to southern Europe.

The painting is signed/dated in the lower right.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also often restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
