Danielsson, Emil (1882-1967)

Danielsson, Emil (1882-1967)

Emil Danielsson was an intriguing character and he’s best known for building his own stone castle on a mountain in Finland. The castle was built in a traditional manner using hand tools and without connecting materials - every stone was carved to allow them to fit together. He often painted from his mountain castle, which was finished in 1906, so perhaps this piece was created there.

Emil Danielsson trained at Abo Drawing School and exhibited widely throughout his life.
