A sensitive portrait of a beautiful young lady praying with her head tilted upwards. Red hair tumbles down her back as her eyes look hopefully on. It’s been created with a great deal of skill particularly around the face and the handling of the skin.
It reminds us of the work of French painter Jean-Jacques Henner (1829-1905) who often painted evocative depictions of nude females. Many of these had red hair, which perhaps indicates his fondness for the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood.
