Philip Hugh Padwick, Autumnal Landscape With Cottage

Philip Hugh Padwick, Autumnal Landscape With Cottage

An atmospheric oil on board depicting a chilly British landscape with trees and a stone cottage.

The artist, Philip Hugh Padwick ROI RBA (1876–1958) is known for his captivating landscapes that create a sense of mystery and drama. Many of his works appear lost in time and could easily sit alongside 18th or early 19th-century pieces.

In 1929, he exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts and his work has been shown in public galleries across the UK.

The painting is inscribed on the reverse and housed within a suitable modern frame.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also often restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
