Paul Sterpin, Attic Room

Paul Sterpin, Attic Room

A wonderfully knackered early 20th-century post-impressionistic oil on canvas by Belgian artist, Paul Sterpin (1873-1952).

With broad brushstrokes and a bold palette, Sterpin has created an atmospheric depiction of a bedroom that's reminiscent of a Van Gogh painting. The composition cleverly draws your eye towards the bright window and then down towards the bed, which is partially obscured by a cabinet.

This piece is currently unframed but framing can be arranged if required. Alternatively, you may wish to simply prop it on a shelf or mantle.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also often restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
