Mollie Forestier-Walker, Portrait Of A Woman

Mollie Forestier-Walker, Portrait Of A Woman

A charming mid-century portrait of a woman in a headscarf by English artist, Mollie Forestier-Walker (1912-1990). We love Mollie’s loose brushwork here and she’s filled the portrait with character.

Forestier-Walker trained at the College of Art in Bristol and her works were widely exhibited during her lifetime. In 1949, she was represented at the prestigious Paris Salon where she received an honourable mention. She spent the latter part of her life at St Mawes in Cornwall.

The portrait is housed within a good later frame.

Overall size: 24½” x 28½” / 62cm x 72cm

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also often restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
