Mary A Hull, Still Life With Damsons & Plums

Mary A Hull, Still Life With Damsons & Plums

This fine 19th-century still life painting by British artist Mary A Hull (1835-1919) depicts damsons and two plums. It’s nicely rendered and celebrates nature’s bounty.

Hull was a drawing teacher and a specialist still life painter. One of her works appeared at the Royal Academy and it’s easy to see why.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also often restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
