Kersti Flyckt, Forest Landscape

Kersti Flyckt, Forest Landscape

A colourful mid-century oil on canvas depicting a dense forest by Swedish artist, Anna Kerstin "Kersti" Flyckt (1925-2009). Tall slender trees provide strong vertical lines while the forest floor comes alive with bold horizontal marks.

This is a good example of Flyckt’s finest work - it’s created with confidence and liberal use of impasto.

Flyckt studied at Konstgillet's painting school in Borås and undertook several study trips through Scandinavia. She’s known predominantly for her landscape paintings but also created wall decorations in metal.

The painting is signed in the lower right and housed within a frame that’s probably its original.

Medium: Oil on canvas
Overall size: 32” x 27” / 82cm x 69cm
Year of creation: c. 1970
Provenance: Sweden
Condition: Very presentable. Frame with a few marks.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also often restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
