The Hunter’s House

This twisting fairytale-esque oil painting by Danish artist Kay Christensen (1899-1981) depicts a boy standing before a tree in silhouette. It’s an otherworldly garden, perhaps a dream or metaphor. The boy’s hair is electric.

Fairytales were an inspiration for Christensen, perhaps an escape. His works often sit in the challenging space between reality and fiction. Much like those of Edvard Munch (1863-1944).

Signed in the lower right and inscribed/dated on the reverse. Framed.
