Hans Andreasen Hessellund, Farmhouse Interior Scene With Family

Hans Andreasen Hessellund, Farmhouse Interior Scene With Family

A fine 19th-century interior scene by academy-trained Danish artist, Hans Andreasen Hessellund (1851-1907). It depicts a family with the mother standing as she looks across to a gentleman who appears to be holding some kind of object. While a second gentleman, perhaps her husband, is glancing over the top of his spectacles. The attention to detail here is exquisite and we particularly enjoy the young lad on the right eating his lunch.

Hans Andreasen Hessellund was the son of a farmer and his works tend to capture everyday moments within rural Danish homes. Several of his scenes have appeared at the leading auction houses, such as Christie’s and Sotheby’s.

The painting is signed in the lower left and housed within a period frame.
