19th-Century German School Portrait Of A Saint With White Flowers

19th-Century German School Portrait Of A Saint With White Flowers

A charming late-19th-century portrait of a saint looking to the heavens and holding white flowers. It was probably created by a keen amateur for a place of worship and could be based on another work.

We love his gentle expression, rouged cheeks and large doe eyes.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also often restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
