Frederic Van der Linden, Gladioli In A Jug With Apples

Frederic Van der Linden, Gladioli In A Jug With Apples

A sumptuous still life with gladioli, a jug and apples by Belgian artist, Frederic Van der Linden (1852-1926). This masterful composition creates an explosion of colour, which arises in the shape of an upturned pyramid. The stems fill the top half of the canvas and extend into the upper corners.

Frederic Van der Linden trained at the Fine Art Academy in Mons and his work tends to feel impressionistic in style.

The painting is signed in the lower right and housed within a good later frame.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also often restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
