Fernand Durozé, Portrait Of A Woman

Fernand Durozé, Portrait Of A Woman

An early 20th-century portrait of a middle-aged woman in a light green top by Parisian painter, Fernand Durozé (1876-1961).

Durozé has captured the sitter’s laissez-faire attitude superbly well. With her knowing eyes and wry smile, she seems like the kind of lady that knew exactly what everyone had been up to.

Durozé studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris under Jean-Léon Gérôme (1824-1904) and exhibited at the illustrious Paris Salon from around 1910.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also often restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
