Portrait Of Mary Anne Boyce

A fine mid-19th-century portrait of Mary Anne Boyce nee Jacob by English painter, Edwin Williams (c.1810-c.1880).

The details are exquisite - note the attention to detail on the beautiful embroidered lace and resting hands.

Edwin Williams exhibited in London between 1845 and 1875, primarily at the Royal Academy but also at the Suffolk Street Gallery and the British Institution. A portrait of Sir Charles James Napier is held in the collection at the National Portrait Gallery.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also often restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
