Danish School, 1920s Portrait Of A Lady

Danish School, 1920s Portrait Of A Lady

A beautiful early 20th-century portrait depicting a lady wearing a long necklace of red beads and a light mauve blouse.

She’s looking over her right shoulder with her mouth slightly open, which gives the portrait a sense of life and vitality. It feels like she’s about to talk and perhaps she did during her sitting.

The portrait is monogrammed in the bottom right and dated 1920.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
