Christian Aigens, Portrait Of A Boy

Christian Aigens, Portrait Of A Boy

A charming portrait of a boy looking curiously out of a window by Danish artist, Anders Peter Christian Aigens (1870-1940). Aigens often painted this lad and he’s likely related - perhaps it’s his son.

Aigens was born in Copenhagen and trained at the Kunstnernes Frie Studieskoler, which offered an alternative approach to the classical leanings of the Academy. During his time there, he studied under Peder Severin Krøyer and Laurits Tuxe. He later trained at the Academy itself so had the benefit of a broad range of influences.

He’s predominantly known for his portraits - one of which is held at the Museum of Aalborg.
