Axel Schovelin (Attributed), Skovsø Nature Park

This charming mid-19th-century landscape painting attributed to Danish artist Axel Schovelin (1827-1893) depicts the Skovsø Nature Park in Slagelse, Denmark. As we look across a tranquil lake towards a manor house, the gentle reflections of trees shimmer with abundant light. While in the foreground, our vantage point is tucked away under branches. A relaxing spot for the artist to enjoy his work.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
