Attributed To Adamine Sindberg, Still Life With Roses

This beautiful 19th-century still life with roses is admirable in its gentle portrayal and subtle brushwork. It’s attributed to Danish artist, Adamine Sindberg (1840-1919), who specialised in flower painting.

Interestingly, the flowers are set against a dark background, a technique often employed by the Dutch masters, yet the flowers retain their delicacy despite the increase in contrast.

The painting is inscribed on the reverse and housed within a later frame.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also often restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
