Adolf Reich, The Violinist

Adolf Reich, The Violinist

A skilfully rendered oil painting depicting an older gentleman tuning a violin by Austrian artist, Adolf Reich (1887-1963).

Reich possessed an extraordinary ability to capture the smallest of details with the utmost of care and his style was entirely traditional. Note how he's observed the angle of the reflections in the mirror and sketched in the engraving on the wall.

In 1916, Reich attended the Academy of Arts in Vienna and elected to paint in a classical style despite many of his contemporaries opting for the avant-garde. In this respect, he was quite a rebel.

The painting is housed within a fine wood and composite frame with swept corners.
