20th-Century English School, Still Life With Flowers

20th-Century English School, Still Life With Flowers

A fine 20th-century still life depicting an abundant bouquet of flowers tumbling from an urn. This large and impressive piece is an homage to 17th-century Dutch flower painting and it evokes a similar sentiment.

We particularly love the vibrant roses, which dominate the middle view and seem to emerge from the canvas.

The painting is signed B. Gardner in the lower right and held within a handsome gilt frame.

Medium: Oil on canvas
Overall size: 46” x 37½” / 117cm x 95cm
Year of creation: c. 1970

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
