This unusual late Victorian portrait of a young lady has a hazy dreamlike quality that adds to its sense of history. The artist is unknown but they’ve used textured paper, which gives the drawing an interesting stippled effect. It seems to heighten the atmosphere.

The portrait is housed within an appropriate frame. A charming addition to a period home.

Medium: Pencil and charcoal on paper
Overall size: 13½” x 15½” / 34cm x 40cm
Year of creation: c. 1900
Condition: Overall very presentable. Frame with some age-related wear.
