A charming mid-19th-century country house portrait of a distinguished gentleman. He’s sitting beside a table with a book, quill and inkwell. Intriguingly, under the table, there’s a small opened letter with a wax seal. Is this a clue regarding the gentleman’s identity or activities?
The portrait was previously hanging in a New Forest country house and it’s held within a fine maple frame.
