19th-Century Danish School, Portrait Of A Standing Male Nude

19th-Century Danish School, Portrait Of A Standing Male Nude

A fine late 19th-century drawing of a standing male nude. The details are exquisite and we particularly love the glimpse of his moustache. It was probably produced by a student while studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.

The drawing has an interesting Academy stamp in the top left and an inscription in the top right.

Medium: Charcoal on paper
Overall size: 23” x 31” / 59cm x 78cm
Year of creation: c. 1881
Provenance: Denmark
Condition: Overall very presentable. The unusual area in the top right is designed to reveal a label.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
