Raymond Allegre, Entrée Du Port De Marseille

Raymond Allegre, Entrée Du Port De Marseille

A beautiful impressionistic depiction of the ‘entrée du Port de Marseille’ by notable French painter, Raymond Allegre (1857-1933).

Allegre studied at the School of Fine Arts in Marseille and often painted light-filled views along the French Riviera. Many of his works were exhibited at the illustrious Salon in Paris where he was awarded several medals.

The painting is housed within a carved and gilded foliate frame and signed in the lower right.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also often restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
