Gustaf Adolf Fahle, The Artist’s Studio

Gustaf Adolf Fahle, The Artist’s Studio

A quick observation of the artist’s own studio by Gustaf Adolf Emanuel Fahle (1906-1989).

Directly in front of us, we see a box of paints and a jar containing brushes situated on a table with two empty chairs. While on our right, the artist’s easel is partially visible, perhaps holding this very painting. We love the restrained palette and slightly industrial feel to this 1960s modernist gem.

Fahle studied at Gottfrid Larsson and Edward Berggren's painting school in Stockholm and then later at Maison Watteau in Paris.

The painting is signed in the lower right and housed within a frame that’s probably the original.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
