Austrian Portrait Of A Woman With Pearls

Austrian Portrait Of A Woman With Pearls

An unusual Austrian portrait of a woman with wavy blonde hair and a pearl necklace. Her eyes peer through a network of extensive craquelure, which gives the painting a ‘lost in time’ quality.

It seems to be the work of a ‘Portrait House’ in Vienna as it’s signed ‘Wiener Portrat Haus 1904’ and also stamped on the reverse.

Housed within what appears to be its original frame.

Conservation & History

We care profoundly about our role as custodians and every piece in the collection has been assessed by our conservator. When required, we undertake professional restoration carefully using reversible techniques and adopt a light touch to retain the aged charm of each work. We also often restore frames rather than replace them as many are original and selected by the artists themselves.
