19th-Century Austrian School, Portrait Of A Lady Holding A Letter

A beautiful mid-19th-century German school portrait of a lady wearing a dark green dress and a black wrap. It dates to around 1860 when fashionable ladies styled their hair into side coils.

The portrait is housed within an attractive gilt frame with foliate decoration.

Condition: Areas of craquelure and some minor losses towards the top. Canvas relined. Frame with some age-related wear.
