19th-Century English School, Portrait Of Thomas Causton

A fine early 19th-century portrait of Thomas Causton (1799-1842), the Vicar of Turweston Park in Brackley, Buckinghamshire. His right hand is reaching into his breast pocket while his left is holding a top hat.

Turweston is a parish situated on the River Great Ouse, which includes 17th-century stone cottages and a Georgian Manor House. The church dates to the 12th-century and features early English Gothic lancet windows.

The portrait is housed within a beautiful scroll and foliate gilt frame with swept corners.
