Dutch artist Jelle Troelstra (1891-1979) was primarily known for his progressive landscapes and portraits but he was also an accomplished musician. He trained under Willy van Schoonhoven van Beurden and Wim Schuhmacher. He’s represented in numerous public collections and his works were shown at the Rijksmuseum in 1939.

Born in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands. He was the son of Pieter Jelles Troelstra (1860-1930) who founded the Dutch socialist party, and Sjoukje Troelstra-Bokma de Boer, an author.
Moved to Geneva and studied music.
Trained under Willy van Schoonhoven van Beurden (1883-1963) and Wim Schuhmacher (1894-1986).
