Landenberger, Christian (1862-1927)

Christian Landenberger was primarily known for his impressionistic portraits, landscapes and scenes. As one of the forefathers of German plein air painting, he became an important figure in the evolution of German art.

He’s represented in several museums including the Kunstmuseum in Albstadt, which holds over 300 of his works.

Born in Ebingen, Germany.

1879

Admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts, Stuttgart.

1883

Admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich.

1890

First public exhibition at the Munich International Art Exhibition.

1895

Created a private art school.

c. 1905

Became a Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, Stuttgart.

1927

Died in Stuttgart, Germany.
