Hailing from Helsingborg, Sweden, Ernst Philip De Fine Licht was a grocer who practised art in his spare time. Very little is known about him aside from his primary occupation. He appears to have lived in the city throughout his life, marrying Eva Lundsten in 1892, and raising four children.
Two of his works have been digitised, with both depicting Helsingborg Town Hall. One of these is held in the collection at Helsingborg Museum.
