Cubley, William Harold (1816-1896)

William Harold Cubley was a highly regarded Victorian artist that studied under the great, Sir William Beechey (1753-1839). He was known for his fine landscapes and also his portraits in the tradition of Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723-1792). He hailed from Heanor in Derbyshire.

His career as an artist enabled him to travel widely throughout Britain and also on the continent. He exhibited many of his works at the Royal Academy including several Welsh landscapes.
