Cubley, Henry Hadfield (1858-1934)

British artist Henry Hadfield Cubley hailed from Newark in Nottinghamshire and is predominantly known for his fine landscapes. He studied under his uncle, William Cubley (1816-1896) and his works are held in numerous public collections.

Born in Newark, Nottinghamshire to Samuel Ward Cubley (a painter and gilder) and Jane Elizabeth Cubley (nee Willey).

Trained by his uncle, William Cubley.

Debuted at the Royal Academy with ‘Llyn Cwmfynnow, North Wales’. He exhibited three works in total.

1886

Married Julia Gertrude Palmer.

1888

Moved to Matlock Bath, Derbyshire.
Birth of daughter Gladys Gertrude Cubley.

1891

Birth of daughter Kathleen Doris Palmer Cubley.

1934

Died in Cheshire.
