Carlberg, Hugo (1880-1943)

Hugo Carlberg was an accomplished Swedish painter of portraits and landscapes, particularly views in Småland or harbour scenes in Bornholm. He trained at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm and also under August Malmström. His works are held in numerous public collections including the Moderna Muséet and the National Museum.

Schooled in Eksjö.

Studied at the technical school in Stockholm.

Studied with August Malmström and also at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm.

Undertook study trips to Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and France.
Studied at the Academie Colarossi and the Academie Grand Chaumiére in Paris.

Debuted at Sweden’s General Art Association in Stockholm.

Shown in Lund.

Lived in Målilla, Sweden, during the winters.
