Anckers, Nils Emil (1858-1921)

Nils Emil Anckers (1858-1921) was a Swedish navy commander, shipyard manager and artist primarily known for his maritime scenes. He worked in oils and watercolours but the majority of his known works are etchings.

The Nationalmuseum in Stockholm holds examples.

Born, Stockholm, Sweden to botanist Nils Johan Andersson and artist Anna Tigerhielm.

1897

Exhibited at the Stockholm Exhibition.

1900

Awarded an exhibition medal at the Salon in Paris.

1904

Changed his surname to Anckers.

1907

Became a commander of the navy.

1914

The Baltic Exhibition in Malmö

1921

Died, Värmland, Sweden.
